There are many more!

An illustrious group of ten. There are some notable omissions, though, I am sure. I suggest:

@taxhelpukcom James McBrearty 8,204 followers

@FraukeGolding Frauke Golding 60 followers

and me @JonStow Jon Stow 1798 followers

with apologies to many accountants and tax advisers I follow but do not have the time to look up for you.

Accountants' guide to twitter

Thanks for including me on the list above Gina. I note that you've included follower numbers in each case. I tend to think that typical frequency of tweets is a more relevant factor than number of followers - firstly because follower numbers change daily. Secondly, and more importantly, because it's possible to game the system and gain more followers simply by following loads of marketing and social media people who automatically then follow you back. They aren't reading your tweets and aren't ReTweeting your posts so having them as followers is of no value to you - beyond increasing the number of your 'followers'.  Also, you can have loads of followers and be pretty inactive such that there's little point in anyone following you.

It's in twitter's interests to focus on follower numbers so that's the stat that is easiest to obtain and it's the one most often quoted.

Since the above list was compiled I have started a short series on AccountingWeb to help accountants who want to experiment with twitter. This should link to part one: The Accountants' guide to twitter
