I agree
Having recently started out on my own, I am finding paperless a complete pleasure. My clients seem to like it too. Its efficient and so long as you back up, its secure and tidy. I can probably get through an assignment with no paperwork whatsoever, everything that can be is electronic and signed documents are signed electronically or scanned and filed electronically.
I sympathise with the culture shift. I think its helped me that I'm saving my own time and money...

ebdex Document Exchange might be the answer?
We can connect whatever the system practises' run with their clients' systems through ebdex Document Exchange. Of course the interface drivers need to be built and our programme allows that to be done in a cost effective manner without the client having to pick the full bill. Time & Expense sheets can be sent as attachments to substantiate the invoice. Over time, if there is interest, we can provide web templates for capturing time and expenses and the data captured can be inserted in to the practises' system, thereby not having to duplicate or triplicate effort. If interested, why not contact me. Details are on http://www.ebdex.co.uk/contactus.html
Best regards
