P45s ignored with internet submission

Anonymous | | Permalink

I have had quite a few ignored both when submitting to notify the HMRC using internet submissions.

1. The employee has left - coding notices still coming to us
2. The employee has started - coding notices going to the previous employer

In one case I did the P45 submission for both the ex-employer and the new employer.

The only way of getting them to update their records have been for me to ring both offices up and give them all the details of both employers & employees. They are unable to do it themselves.

Surely at he end of the first decade of the 21st century this is an archaic view. Anyone with a scanner and cheap pdf handling software could mock up a colour A4 P45, and much quicker than anyone trying to create a monochrome one in Microsoft Word
