Windows XP SP1 and SP1a support ends on 10 October
10 October - As previously reported, Microsoft confirmed this week that it would cease supporting Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Service Pack 1a (SP1a) from Tuesday 10 October.
As set out in its Support Lifecycle policy, Microsoft makes it very clear that the lifespans of its Windows releases do not go on for ever. If you are currently using Windows XP SP1 or 1a - or an earlier version such as Windows 2000 or 98 - Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows XP Service Pack 2 as soon as possible.
