While very few people outside of Belgium will have recognised this man a few weeks ago, his rather surprised looking face has been beamed into homes across the world, as Belgian prime minister Herman Van Rompuy was named as the first European Council President recently. The job, which many expected to go to former PM Tony Blair, will see Van Rompuy chairing regular meetings of the European Council at which decisions will be taken about the political position of the bloc.

Also netting a job top was British born EU trade commissioner Baroness Catherine Aston (seen here with Van Rompuy), who will act as foreign affairs supremo under the new administration.

Please submit your captions by 5pm on Thursday 26 November for a chance to win.
