Our humour and fun discussion group has been buzzing this week with muso-talk, with members sharing their suggestions for the top CDs of the past decade.

As someone unkindly noted, this is probably the last chance we're going to get to do so. There's a huge variety of really interesting nominations, spread between lots of different artists. So far, here are the ones that are in the running for our shortlist (apart from the Killers, with three votes, the others only have a couple of votes each):

  • Killers - Hot Fuss
  • Backstreet Boys - Backstreet Boys
  • Freddie Mercury - Made in Heaven
  • Keane - Hopes and Fears
  • Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans (Also check out his Songs for Christmas CD)
  • Original Soundtrack - O Brother, Where Art Thou?
  • Lily Allen - which is better fans, Alright, Still or It's Not Me, It's You?
  • Seasick Steve - Dog House Blues
  • Oli Brown - Open Road
  • Alanis Morissette - votes split between Jagged Little Pill and Flavors of Entanglement

What we need now are more suggestions and support for those already mentioned. Take a moment to add your nominations below, or pay a visit to the discussion group for some musical reminders - and great Christmas present ideas!

Made in Heaven??

I think you will find that Made in Heaven was a Queen rather than Freddie Mercury album and it was actually released in 1995.

I'll vote for: -

The Killers - Hot Fuss

Keane - Hopes and Fears

Duffy - Rockferry

Manic Street Preachers - Send Away The Tigers

Kate Bush - Aerial

Kings of Leon - Only By The Night

The race opens up

Steve - as well as blowing a hole in our musical credibility, you've had a big impact on the race card. With Freddie Mercury/Queen scratched, you've given another boost to our front runner, The Killers, but also brought Keane and the Kings of Leon into contention. Looking forward to seeing how the competition shapes up.

Alanis all the way...

But I couldn't choose between those two albums!  If I had to be pushed, I would say Jagged Little Pill, well, it has sold 33 million copies worldwide, and that's quite a lot!

Clear Winner

So, game over!

Queen's Made In Heaven is so good they had to remove it from the competition!

My nomination from the last/current decade?

Queen's Absolute Greatest!

David

Stereotypes

Can't help but notice that there's a distinct lack of black dance artists in peoples choices. Is this because accountancy is a typically white middle class profession or is it because accountants can't dance?

I'd like to add to the list

Dangerously in Love - Beyonce & Elephunk - Black Eyed Peas.
