Xero’s latest update is packed full of features especially for their Accountant Partners. You’ll notice My Xero for Accountants is now green and you can manage your staff, clients, billing plans and practice settings from within My Xero.

To see these changes, you can read their blog post which has a simple video explaining the changes for My Xero Accountants Edition. These updates have already received positive industry commentary here and here.

From My Xero, you can now add Accountants Edition and Standard Xero organisations. Accountants Edition organisations allow you to invite your client with a cashbook only role or a fully-managed comments only role.
Managing your clients is now easier with the ability to search your client list and create groups to organise large numbers of client organisations. You can also manage your staff by inviting them to your practice to keep track of what clients they have access to.

Our Resources section contains the most commonly used and up-to-date forms, documents and help for your staff to have quick access to.

If you would like to make use of these features, please read about how our Xero Accountants Edition can help you, your staff and your clients.

Tax Rates for each Contact

You can now assign default tax rates to customers and suppliers and enter their tax number. This is useful if your customer or supplier doesn’t use your normal tax rate, i.e. because they are exempt or in another country. If you enter your customer’s tax number then it will be displayed on any invoices you raise for the customer.

VAT Support for EC Sales and Purchases

UK users now have two additional tax codes to record zero rated EC sales and purchases. Additional tax codes can be added for other EC transactions that include VAT and for other sales and purchases made within the UK but with a special VAT rate. Each tax rate added will be properly accounted for in the VAT Return and audit report.

Other updates in this release include:

  • The quantity field in an invoice now supports 4 decimal places
  • The Cash Manager user role is no longer available
  • You can now choose to log directly into My Xero instead of seeing the dashboard of the last organisation you used

Coming soon:

  • Partial payments against invoices from within bank reconciliation
  • CSV import for contacts and bank statements
  • Fixed asset register
  • Multi-currency for bank accounts and invoices
