Jim Lowe recently retired as a lecturer in company law and related topics at Northumbria University, specialising in solicitors' and accountants' professional training and courses for for small businesses. Publications include several books on company law, contributions to legal periodicals and major practitioners' works. Editor of the Company Law Club website www.companylawclub.co.uk.

Since 1978 he has also been in business providing company formation, company law and company secretarial services to the legal and accounting professions. From 1982 to 1991 he was a regional director of a major national company registration company. He is a director of Company Law Solutions Limited (www.companylawsolutions.co.uk), and is a consultant on company law matters at Hay & Kilner, solicitors, in Newcastle upon Tyne.
