2016-17 Employment Allowance

2016-17 Employment Allowance

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

As I understand it the only change to who's entitled to claim the employment allowance in 2016-17 is that payrolls where the only employee is a director cannot claim.

I can't seem to find guidance on whether a payroll with 2+ employees, all of whom are directors, are eligible to claim. I assume so but if someone could please confirm I would be grateful.

Many thanks in advance.

Yes - you are right

As soon as there is more than one person on the payroll, you can claim the increased Employment Allowance of up to £3,000.

so to clarify....

does that second person need to be earning more than the LEL?

Found conflicting statements or more likely my interpretation/understanding is wrong!

Particular case, I'm thinking of at the moment is husband and wife both directors but she was/is only receiving £200 per month salary from co due to other employment income

Thanks in advance, I hope!

Employment Allowance 2016-2017

I have looked at the revised regulations and it says payments to "or for the benefit of "a sole director. Does this mean if the Directors wife is the only other employee that the allowance is not available? I thought the consultation document was supposed to iron this one out!
