3 months filing extension and shortening yr end

3 months filing extension and shortening the year end

Didn't find your answer?

If we shorten the year end by 1 day for a 31.12.2019 year end company do we still get the extra 3 months extension to file (ie to 30th March 2021) even though we have had an extra 3 months coronavirus extension. Thanks

Yes, you can do both.

But you won't be able to shorten it again as you'll be out of time.

Are we out of time now to shorten as the normal 9 months have passed.

Thanks , I really dislike this 1 day shortening business but sometimes it gets you out of a hole, funny thing is though the clients that you use it for aren't normally grade A and you wonder afterwards why you bother.

I'd vote yes - on the basis that you can ordinarily shorten twice to get six months (just don't tell the grade Z clients that).

You'll still get lumped with a CT penalty though.

I'd forgotten about the CT issue, its normally ok with the 9 months as it lines up, drat.
