400,000 Guinea Pigs - Any News?

Does anyone know how HMRC are getting on with signing up 400,000 people for their MTD pilot trial?

Didn't find your answer?

I am curious to know how this MTD pilot trial, due to start April 2017, is going .

Does any one have updated information on this or perhaps has agreed to be one of the Guinea Pigs?

No replies then.

I am rather surprised that for a major trail starting in three weeks time which is significantly important to the progress of MTD and involving 400,000 people, there is no one who has any information as to its current progress.

Thanks for the link but as this report is over 5 weeks old, it is not as up to date as I would have liked.

I think the AWEB team will probably be amongst the first to dig out new information on the pilot trial so it might be just a case of watching this space.

I received an email from Digita asking if I was interested in taking part and how many clients I could expect to bring on board

Easy - none.

Unless there's a fee, obviously.

Marion did not say how she reacted but I would certainly not have signed up myself or any of my clients to this particular beta.

I have taken part in, and do take part in software betas, but I would never agree to take part in an MTD beta, as I think this will take up enormous amounts of unpaid time for no particular gain. This is not a reflection on the software developers but more of a mistrust in the ability of HMRC to provide the necessary specifications to the software developers and the number of amendments that will be required.

I am happy, however, for others to spend their time if they wish in trying to get the MTD system to work properly, and good luck to them.

I received the same, and was considering entering our CEO's wife into the pilot, but following the 12 month delay, I'm not going to bother, now. Let other early adopters suffer the pain, I say.

Rather than starting a new topic, I am reviving this thread to see if anyone has updated news on this MTD Trial.

By now I would guess that people taking part in the Trial should be at least 100,000 so if you are in the Trial or have any knowledge of how many people are currently in the Trial, then please let us know.

My firm is not in the trial. I was at a course earlier this week with about 100 accountants from across the South-East. None of them are in the trial either. (At least none raised their hands to a similar query from the lecturer)

A small sample of accountants as a whole to be sure. But add that to your experience and the lack of response from the many more accountants here and it's all starting to look a bit odd.

From what I've heard the numbers are very small - some asked each week I gather rather than 'en masse'- and you have to be personally 'invited' allegedly!

HMRC seemed certain that they would achieve this 400,000 by Autumn this year .... perhaps they will, but as far as I can see this is just another of the MTD Team fantasies and another good example as to why MTD will fail in its current proposed format.

Has the recruitment drive been put on hold because of the election?
