Accountex and the Coronavirus

Didn't find your answer?

With the news of Quickbooks cancelling their show and Italy quarantining 16 million people I just wondered if anyone was thinking of avoiding Accountex this year? Their website says they have seen normal patterns in registrations and that it is going ahead but I can't help feeling it will be a very quiet show if it does

I’ll probably still go if it’s on - but won’t miss it if it gets cancelled.

I've avoided it every year so far and I see no reason for Coronavirus to change my plans.

I go mainly just in case there happens to be something worth looking at and to have a mooch around gathering as much free stuff as I can. I've still got my compleat stress ball and FreeAgent bag for life at home). Arguably it's a waste of a day but it's only an hour on the train and costs about £80 in total so I may as well show my face.

I normally love Accountex. However, this year I will not be going - totally pointless taking the additional risk. Big events will likely be shut down by then anyway.

I suspect it'll be cancelled/postponed if another big name drops out. I try to go every year and I always enjoy it. Let's see!

Hi all,

Obviously, things are moving at an unbelievably fast pace with coronavirus and it's easy to be anecdotal about such things.

Like a lot of major events and in keeping with current advice, Accountex is very much still on.

Accountex are doing a fantastic job keeping attendees in the loop over at their website - see https://www.accountex.co.uk/london/coronavirus-update or their Twitter feed here https://twitter.com/accountex. Our very best to the team at what must be a tough time.

Accountex London is shaping up to be a great conference and we hope to be there on 13-14 May just like we are every year. See you there.

Yes, I'll be attending. With a well thought out plan, its a great way to spend two days.
Learning, updating and renewing friendships - its far and away the best conference in the UK accounting calendar.

* For transparency, I do have one speaking slot over two the days, but I've only missed one Accountex, since it started.

We are nowhere near the peak in this country but the Gov as indicated they want to delay the peak into the warmer months so I'm guessing May or June it'll be much worse than it is now (whilst compared to other things that kill still minor)

I haven't made my mind up about going yet, and will see what happens in the meantime, but I enjoyed last year (first time).

Looks like it has been postponed until November now. Inevitable really

18th and 19th November are the new dates it seems.

I doubt I’ll bother - unless by some miracle I’m ahead of the game by then. I think I’ve taken on too much work the last couple of years and think it will take me until August to catch up - that’s without losing staff or productive time of my own in the next few months.

I heard that no exhibitors have dropped out, they have just changed the date for the safety of exhibitors/visitors. Seems a good move in my opinion and November is a decent month to postpone until - means I can finish my year at Accountex and Xerocon in November.
