AccountingWEB US to close ....

AccountingWEB US closing?

Didn't find your answer?

What do UK based members think of the news?  Interesting to see that the US business is simply closing, and is not being sold. https://www.sift.co.uk/blog/sift-closes-accountingweb-us/

Subscription is coming............. actually, I'm OK with that, provided the informal coontributors to Any Answers remain. I learn a lot from the thread discussions - probably more than I ever did from CIOT's CPD seminars.

Actually, Accounting Web is my only CPD activity these days, since I resigned my professional memberships back in 2009.

Quite probably ...

"Sift will continue to serve the accounting profession via its AccountingWEB sister brand in the United Kingdom, with a focus on growing the digital marketing, subscription, and events business."

"ABOUT SIFT
Sift is a leading B2B publisher and agency based in Bristol, United Kingdom, specializing in the accounting and business sectors. Through practical and engaging content, user-centered experiences and insight-driven marketing communications Sift helps brands reach, target and connect with their future customers."

Every business has to make a profit ... but the above words make clear the reasons for so much of what I and others kick against (basically over-commercialisation and hence a hefty focus on those prepared to pay the marketing shilling).

A shame but, like MTD, I have the choice of walking away.

No surprise
It was rubbish anyway
No any answers and not good English in the stuff I looked at
Maybe now the filters should be aligned to British English
Just going out to smoke a fag, having checked that there are no chinks in my armour

EDIT
Looks like US filters are gone already
I had already noticed that crap no longer needed to be spelt carp or cr4p

The filters have always been crap.

I remember being pretty surprised, years back, when PNL managed to post a word despite much 'lesser' swears being allowed.

I believe the filter has been upgraded since, to ban those words but leave them when included as part of a larger word (it was frustrating when random harmless words disappeared because there was a coincidental sweary component in the middle).

If youre wondering, then the unexpected leniency i am referring to was that you couldnt declare your support for Arsenal FC but you could talk about lower league teams, like Scunthorpe United.....

Obviously too clever to fall for the Scunthorpe Problem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_problem). :)

The "Scunthorpe problem" (and indeed similar issues) would not be a problem at all here if the moderators didn't let every Tom, Dick and Harry post rather than restricting to the professionals that the site professes to be for. I'm sure that those of us who are, ostensibly, the target audience are either adult enough to not use it, or thick skinned enough to let it wash over us. (I'm not saying whether I'm adult or thick skinned)

Let's see if it will censure the King James Bible;

'And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his [***]' Genesis 22:3
'And it came to pass, as she came [unto him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off [her] [***];' Joshua 15:8

No, the stupid filter is still there, making an [***] of itself.
