Accounts Filed Before Our Approval

Didn't find your answer?

I am wondering how to handle a situation.  I maintain the days to day books, VAT etc for a client for many years now.  We terminate appointment with the external accountants and 2 weeks later have issued us a bill for filing a set of year end accounts which we didn't approve.  Although a basic set of accounts they do contain an intercompany that needed to have been written off.

The siutation doesn't seem correct to me.  Does anyone have any advice on how to handle the bill??

Is the bill for preparing the accounts, or for filing them - and, if the latter, filing them where, and have they in fact been filed there?

As mentioned if the accounts have been filed at Companies House then notwithstanding any recourse against those filing them, refer to s454(1) Companies Act 2006 and The Companies (Revision Of Defective Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 which gives you what you need to know about voluntary filing an amended set. As for the bill - you have to say why the amended set are defective so you could choose your words appropriately.
