I have used Iris software for 20 years. Due to pricing issues I am looking at changing to another provider. BTC's tax software seems to get reasonable reviews, but I wondered what their fairly new accounts product was like. I would also be interested to know how easy (or not!) the migration process was, from those who have done it?

I've never used Iris but have used Caseware and Sage Account Production. I find the package as a whole very user friendly and handles most situations I come across for micro/small businesses. The trial balance integration with the accounts can be clunky if you wish to customise anything though and it is easier to create errors in doing so. Coming from Caseware/Sage where customisation was relatively straight forward it was an annoyance at first . There are a few nuances in setting up existing clients - like creating blank prior year templates so that it realises there was one - which I'm sure they could easily solve but it continues. They are also currently lacking an FRS 105 template for CLGs. I am very happy with it now though and would recommend it, and especially good for the price.
There is an FRS 102 template for CLGs with it, just would be handy to have the 105 option!
We’re a bit big bigger than you (team of 30).
Iris is expensive, but having left them 4 years ago for Digita we’re heading back and swollowing that cost.
Iris just works.
The cost is compensated by the time savings and integration.
What’s more Digita AAP just isn’t fit for purpose despite the constant promises; indeed I roled forward a set of FRS102 1A Accounts last week for the first time and the system crashed as this facility has not apparently been completed yet.
its a real shame Digita's accounts production is now so tortuous to use, as the rest of their software is fine and a lot cheaper then iris
