I want to link my existing agent-client relationships in my ASA. When I log into my new ASA, it doesn't look any different from when I log in using my old credentials except I do not have access to any services set up. There is certainly no option to link clients. I thought perhaps I hadn't set it up properly, so tried again, but got the message that I couldn't as I aready had an ASA set up.
So, I rang the telephone number given in the 'MTD update for agents issue 1' sent from HMRC on 20/12/18, which is the general number. I have been trying since last month and have got absolutely nowhere. When I ring, the operators don't seem to have much of a clue what I'm talking about, and when I ask for MTD & Agent Services, there's a lot of 'I'll just try....'. They don't seem to know who to put me through to. And I've just been told this morning there's a technical problem and they can't put me through to anyone. And, no, there's no direct number I can ring.
Has anyone had this problem with their ASA? What is it supposed to look like when I log in? Any clues how I can get help from HMRC?
Thanks.

It definitely shouldn't look just the same. I have the same issue but if you log in with your ASA and then copy and paste this into the address bar:
https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/agent-services-account
it should take you to the page you're expecting.
I think it's an issue with browser cache / cookies. I use Chrome with my ASA and Firefox with my old account so that logging in to either takes me to the right page, if I log in on the wrong browser I get the wrong system.
Pretty sure it's just a badly coded website.
I have just done what you said and I have linked up my existing clients from my original agents account. Does it take long for them to link up and how do you know if they have done so??
thanks
Hi, I just added a similar question - I have just done as is suggested in this link, and while I get to the ASA - there are no clients linked.....
Just wondering if you have clients listed?
I too have linked our old account and it says its already linked.........
Frustrating or what!
There's no client list in the ASA, your clients will appear in your MTD software. You have to register each client for MTD as well as your agent account, then set them up in your software. This page may be of use

Dear Duggimon A million thanks, no a trillion. I have been wondering about this for a while. I was on holiday in Cape town through March and put it off. I was wandering through the not very helpful HMRC blurb, you solved it in an instant! Though they say its already linked???
"There is a problem
This Government Gateway account is already linked to your agent services account.
If you need to link a different Government Gateway account, sign in with the login details for that account.
Try again "
Good fun isn`t it!
