Agent Services down for maintenance AGAIN?

Thought I'd get some admin out the way this Friday evening, tried to log in to HMRC and getting the same message we got 3-4 days last week.

System is a joke and they want us to embrace a digital future with the service they provide?

It's not maintenance either. The system goes down for days at a time and when it comes back up it's still as sh*t as before.

Still down.
It was accepting rti until just after half 5 but now I wanted to check payment allocations and it is down again

6am on 18th and still down. Will the tax return deadline be extended? No issues reported on HMRC online service issue pages so no help there. Grrrr!

Still down at 10.20 am.

Seems highly suspicious to me ... big problems?

I have just received a P800 for someone who I disengaged over ten years ago. There seems to be more than a small bug in the system.

Initial login said it was down, but then I noticed a link that said something like "Load original agent services" Clicked that and I seem to be in!? Or maybe it's working again

Does not work for me. It just reloads the same page, and I cannot find another way to log in.

It's a pain. I have to log an authorisation code with an expiry date of 6th December. Do you think it will be back on by then?

Sat eve... still down and there has been no advance notification. Is it just the agents pages? CIS deadlines tomorrow.
A lesson I suppose... dont leave everything to the last minute.
But client sent me their CIS Fri - I was at an event - I tried to submit when I got back and nothing.
I will try again tomorrow I suppose.

This is odd because I have just got back from the cinema to do a couple more and while I get @Closed for maintenance' still clicking the 'Goto old HMRC services' still gets me in

Still down - been trying to input CIS for 4 clients for 2 days now. So penalties are going to be issued, followed by appeals and then presumably upheld! What a waste of time, why choose a deadline date for maintenance or has their system finally ground to a halt?

is there anyone at accountingweb that may be able to shed some light on this issue?
I have telephone the online services help desk and they are unaware of any maintenance. And I have also logged the issue with Gov.UK website - may have to wait the average 8 to 10 weeks for a reply though!
It would be good to know why this is happening?

I note that my usual login these days is through a beta service which might be a clue to what is going on -

https://www.gov.uk/help/beta

I have a feeling that not all Agents were put into this trial and whilst I did not actually volunteer to to join it, there did seem to be a much better interface to the services I am signed up to.

The notice referring to logging in the original way makes a bit more sense now except I cannot find a way to get to the original log-in page. The service interruptions may simply only affect people on the beta trial.

Just a theory and hopefully it will be back again tomorrow.

I have been trying to get in all weekend to file CIS returns for 4 clients.

I am in the BETA version but if I click the link to the "original" page then it just takes me back to the same login screen.

Spoke to HMRC online services via chat yesterday and again via phone today who said they were aware it was down and had no idea when it would be back up.

I managed to get a screenshot of the conversation yesterday and a call reference today so fingers crossed when the inevitable penalties arise I can get them cancelled.

A total shambles though for it to be down for this length of time.

19th Nov 2017 20:57

I shall regret the gloat, but still for me I get the BETA maintenance page, click the "use old service" link, and get through.

Though if you're not logged in that'll take you to the login page, but for me when it redirects after I have entered my details and got the maintenance page I end up in my account

Still down. Tried to submit CIS returns 8.30am, 11.30am, 3pm and now 11.15pm.
I normally suffer these, moan a bit to clients, and then carry on as normal. I think the time has come to send the bill to HMRC for lost time and dealing with the inevitable penalty appeals.

Oh dear. 6.23 am on Monday and ... still down. I hope this is elevated. Letters to MPs may be. Certainly to institutes, accounting bodies etc. Four days now so that's more than 5% of total time left to file tax returns.

I have to agree, it is so frustrating especially when you have work to do and require access to the Gateway. Its still down at 7.30am on 20th Nov 2017.

This is the reason, I constantly tell my Clients not to leave their tax return until the last minute. Imagine this happening on or around 31st January!!!!!

Thankfully, I dont need to urgently access the gateway until later on in the week so hopefully be sorted by then (well hopefully be sorted today!!!)

Call them on 0300 200 3600 and let them know how disruptive this is

update: apparently it's a known technical issue that HMRC are working on and hope to resolve as soon as possible. I'm off for a walk!

Just spoke to the online helpdesk - yes, they know it's broken but no, they don't know when it will be fixed. If clients receive a penalty for late filing then they will be overturned on appeal (easier if they just declare a blanket exemption on penalties this month).

Should we all bill HMRC for time wasted? Pointless exercise as we wouldn't get paid but it'd make me feel better haha!

On a practical note, I'm screenshotting the error messages to back up the defence (if you keep clicking you get to a blank page with a message saying "The requested URL was rejected ..... Your support ID is: *****)- and noting their Online Helpdesk's words "yes, we are aware of it ... it's been down since Friday afternoon"

Yes, I did the same thing but the operator I spoke to was not very talkative and just told me the basics that the service was down for maintenance and he did not know when it would be back on. Significantly, there was no apology at all.

If Hammond tells me one more time that we are going to have driverless cars on the roads by 2021 that use extremely complex electronics, I will scream. If they cannot get a simple online Agent service right then what hope for driverless cars (I am keen to see how a driverless car negotiates a yellow box at a busy junction, and who pays the fine when it gets it wrong?).

I was told it was a known technical issue and definitely not maintenance. I used the webchat help, on the Agent Services logon page, where "Sandra" seemed to be informed of what was going on
Roll on next weekend!
