AMLS Registration fiasco anyone ?

Are we the only ones to have come up against this ?

Didn't find your answer?

I started to apply for our AMLS registration in July, but was unable to complete and actually submit the online form – I kept getting a message telling me to “please try again in a few minutes”. This went on for days so I reported this to HMRC who gave me a reference and said they would look into it, nearly 5 months down the line and despite many emails it is still not resolved and as a consequence because the AMLS was not renewed our client account was suspended and we are unable to file any SA returns.  This has had a huge impact on our practice, has anyone else had the same problem and how was it resolved ?

I've encountered some experience, of HMRC's "systems", only this morning
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/hmrc-money-laundering-superv...
Akin to most of HMRC's activities, there's little, if any, joined up thinking.
However, being totally honest, I wouldn't have allowed this to lapse, from July.
Given the dire position, which HMRC appear to have created for you, I think you need to escalate this to asking your MP, to intervene.
That's if he/she isn't too embroiled in other national matters, at present.

Thanks, theres more of a back story about whether we needed to be registered at all, as the practice owner lives and runs the business from abroad, I act as the UK office only. Reading the criteria it appeared we didn't need to register so let our registration lapse only to be told that because we weren't registered we could no longer act as agents! The whole situation is a mess and is nowhere could I find that we had to be registered to be Agents

Not only you! I completed my renewal (for 1/2/18) and paid the fees on 3 January 2018. Renewal was finally actioned (after many emails) without query on 26 October 2018.

Pretty poor for what is an annual exercise!

Still at least me renewal application was accepted and I was therefore supervised until it was either rejected or accepted.

I think I might be thinking of going to law for trading losses if I was in your place.

And, when dealing with HMRC online, if I’m any doubt, take screenshots of everything.

my april renewal has only just been accepted - but my additional fee is still outstanding so despite talking to them I am waiting to see how long the next step takes
