And so it begins

Manchester Pride

Didn't find your answer?

As attendance rises, and so does the noise level, the entrance and ticket booth are again outside my office Window, and the best route to the station is blocked off. Traffic is rammed on those routes still open, and the noise levels of frustrated horn blasts from them is somewhat distracting, too.

Whilst I have nothing against people celebrating whatever they want, why is it done to the complete detriment of everyone else?

Take holiday next year - or get your rainbow rags on and get partying

With luck I won't be here next year, especially since I've just learned that they may have expanded the cordon from previous years and I may have an extra miles walk to the station. Since I rely on the train for my evening meal time (I'm type 1 diabetic), this could prove to be a problem.

You could try a pump re your type 1 control.

My other half has been type 1 since her teens (her father was also type 1) and has evolved through myriad testing machines and syringes etc to using a pump- it appears to be easier to control the highs and lows compared with injections, the theory I believe being the stability of blood sugars due to better control being better for reducing the risks of type 1 side effects in later life, the only downsides seem to be it sometimes beeps like R2D2, scanners at airports are a no no (convincing customs officers is time consuming) and we have to take out insurance for it as a distinct insured risk on the house insurance given its replacement cost.

I've been using a pump for >15 years, and have recently started with the Freestyle Libre for monitoring.

Of course, because the pump is programmed to change basal depending on time of day and contingent on at least a reasonably steady diet, it doesn't help with unexpected delays.

I'm sure part of what they are celebrating is that you can't beat them anymore.

When I worked in London, one of the firm's clients was based in Notting Hill. They got a bill every year to pay for plywood boarding to cover up the ground floor windows for when the carnival was in town.

My old house / home office was in the middle of a town fair which happened one a year. After the second year of grimacing, I just didn't bother working in the afternoon of those 2 days a year, and made sure I was around to take the kids when they got home from school. [It ran on a Monday and Tuesday, not the weekend]

It was a lot more fun riding the waltzer than listening to others do it!

Noise cancelling headphones? I have my phone diverted to my mobile that is playing Spotify on the office WiFi through headphones, but the mobile will alert me to a call. It also helps with inane chatter in the office . Sorted :)

maybe it was because they were oppressed by almost everyone for so long, we're all different we're all the same. I'm checking out for 3 weeks off to Mykonos.

I long for the day when we don't 'need' to have events such as Gay Pride for the simple reason that we as a society will have moved forward to the point when people are accepted for who they are and not their sexuality, religion or beliefs.

In the utopian future, we will have festivals and/or celebrations to celebrate 2 weeks next Tuesday because why not...

(I mean no disrespect to anyone for the above comments).

I do however miss a lot of points, hence why I am so successful as a balloon.

People always come up and tell me I make them laugh.

Usually before I open my mouth to speak.
