Any news re self-employed grants in future

Self-employed grants

Didn't find your answer?

Quite a few people are getting the grant through, which is very impressive by HMRC. But I havnt heard any news about what happens next, is this a one-off, or will there be some more to come ?

The Chancellor is being badgered to offer more, especially now the CJRS has been extended further but he appears reticent and was reported as saying that the self-employed are able to work so they can fend for themselves - or words to that effect!

I don't think he likes the self-employed very much.

Nor the small company director.

Tell that to black cab drivers who don't have anyone to take a fare.

Martin Lewis is saying that the steer he is getting from HM Treasury is that the scheme will not be extended. Some people here have scorned comments made by him but he does seem to have very high level contacts in government.

Yes, he obviously does have some high level contacts as he comes out with the facts sometimes 'long before' they're official - I think that's why people are sometimes a bit fed up with him!

I think he's a handy contact to follow on Twitter, definitely at the moment, but he did wind me up at the beginning of all this when he said that there was no self-employed income support scheme and I had been watching it being debated in the House of Commons the previous night as it had been proposed by the Lib Dems. In fact the version we now have of it via the SEISS is interesting as the original proposal which was 'poo pooed' was that once the 19/20 figures were known, if the SEISS paid out was deemed too high on average then there was going to be some form of claw back but this was never implemented.
