Any one else having difficulty logging into HMRC

Is the HMRC site down yet again.

Didn't find your answer?

Trying to file a VAT retrun and it appears the MTD bollocks isnt working yet again or is it just me?

Yes....glad it is not just me! This is becoming a frequent problem as there have been several days this month when I have been unable to login. Keeps saying the service is not available but when i check the service availability it states "Full Service Availability"

If you're trying to use the 'normal' and not the ASA and get the "sorry, the service is unavailable" with the below in the URL:

https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/agent-usher/optin

Then you can replace the "agent-usher/optin" with "home" so that the URL reads:

https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/home/

This takes you to your normal page as if you hadn't had any issues logging in

1 Doesn't work for me
2 I shouldn't have to in any event

Pile of proverbial

I am logged in to the SA area of online services, but it will not let me navigate to "Your HMRC serices" so clearly a problem somewhere.

Yes, and the usual Agent portal not working either. Is it overloaded do you think?!

Not working. I get "Sorry, the service is unavailable." You will be able to use the service later.

Far from ideal!

All is obviously not well in the state of HMRC Online services.

I received this note from HMRC's API platform alerting service at 13.32:

"New incident: Investigating
"We're experiencing an elevated level of API errors relating to the VAT MTD API, we're currently investigating this."

They're still investigating an hour later and highlight the Developer Hub as the affected service.

But that doesn't explain all the user reports here about access problems with SA Online and the Agent Services Account - different systems to MTD for VAT.

I'll see if we can get a more detailed explanation from HMRC.

The desired level of detail was not forthcoming, but at 16:44 yesterday I got this reply back:

“HMRC is aware of an issue affecting a number of our digital services earlier this afternoon. This included Making Tax Digital (MTD).

“All of our services are now available and working and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
