Any software for investments, chargeable gains?

Any software that can handle investments, chargable gains, dividends received?

Didn't find your answer?

Started a micro entity company. Have lots of retained earnings. Pondering to invest some of those into ETFs. Which is proving to be a can of worms.

Currently using freeagent and it is unable to handle receiving dividends. Or calculate chargeable gains.

The question is - now what? Or what do others do?

Are there accounting software & tax packages that can keep track of investments and receiving dividends, and thus generate correctly tagged computations and file CT600?

Or what can one do instead? Export freeagent data, supplement computations from outside and/or tag things better and then file? Are there typical ways of doing this?

I am glad I looked into this before generating chargeable gains or receiving dividends. As it seems to be very difficult to keep records for and then later file.

Accountants use third party software. I don’t use FreeAgent for CT600 filing but, from a bookkeeping perspective, you can tailor the software to book the investment and investment income these days. I would consider all implications before making a decision, not just how you would file the tax return.

There is certainly third party software etc that will do your pools etc, depends how much trading as to whether needed- when I used to have a client who day traded the software was useful but for the one I currently am involved with, where we very rarely sell anything, I do find excel is my friend and I can manage notwithstanding we have a fair size portfolio of listed investments (Shares, investment trusts and the odd REIT) and I manage their holdings with a tabbed workbook, a summary sheet, dividend schedules, a bank rec and a little effort-we can download csv files from our brokers and manipulate them, but with only circa 150 dividends and say 20 capital transactions a year it would not be that onerous for us even if no CSV file availability.

If trading in and out imho software is very useful, the matching rules can be tricky to follow if no software and lots of activity.

No idea if this works and cannot now remember software we used, but link below is to the sort of thing you could use.

Wonder if one put all the past results into a computer for 10 years AI could predict outcomes? Probably not as my prospective son in law seems to mentally record all the Scottish Football results but still his bets only win sometimes, in fact my daughter's football betting on games in England seem more successful. (They are a well matched pair- both football daft)

Should should try something similar with your rugby database
