Anyone else migrated from Taxfiler to Iris Element

How's the migration gone?

Didn't find your answer?

I had my email this morning saying I needed to migrate from Taxfiler and thought I’d do it as I had a quite morning.

The migration process was quick and easy.

However, when I tried to add a new accounts period I got an error message and had to call support. Calling Iris support was almost as bad as calling to HMRC. I repeatedly heard a message telling me my wait time was an estimated 5 minutes. After almost 15 minutes my call was answered by a foreign call centre. It was hard work. I struggled to understand the gentleman I spoke to, and it seemed we had a significant audio delay. He had to put me on hold to ask someone for assistance. He came back to me, and I had to download a new browser as Iris Elements seems to have an issue with Microsoft Edge. I had to log in and out several times and after about 45 minutes it seems I can now use Iris Elements. Not a good start.

I rather wish I’d stayed with Taxfiler for the remaining 2 weeks of my subscription and looked for an alternative but it’s a one-way migration so that option is gone.

Anyone else migrated? If so how’s it gone?

There's nothing browser specific about it not working as I have used it in Edge since day 1 and no problems this week

I can log in on Edge but cant create new accounts - to do that I have to log out and use Chrome. The support person I spoke to seemed to have limited knowledge so wasnt terribly helpful. Hoping it's just teething problems but I am looking at alternatives.

Considering all the negativity around migrating over, I was expecting to encounter a few issues. However, I found it pretty easy to do and everything seems to have come across OK.
Fingers crossed that this continues......

The terms state the cancellation notice period for Iris Elements is 90 days for the annual plan.

I'm highly suspicious that in the near future, Iris will jack the price right up, but only tell you the new price a month or so before renewal, by which time it's too late to cancel. Ie it's just carte blanche to charge what ever they want, and there's nothing you can do!

I'm considering chosing the pay monthly option (30 day notice period) which is more expensive, but if my suspicions are true I can get out quickly!

Just learnt that Iris don't honour your remaining Taxfiler subscription - you have to pay immediately to actually use Iris (the trial doesnt enable you to prepare accounts or a tax return) and request a refund ffrom Taxfiler.

They'd better honour mine - I paid for the year last July.

They recently made me move to Iris Elements and it is utterly hopeless! Really slow, loads of bugs! I will def be moving away from it very soon!

I'm having the same issues so wish I still had Taxfiler - that just worked. I am getting repeated problems with Iris Elements crashing and not working and trying to get through to anyone for support is so difficult. I'm wasting so much time.

Hi
I've just received a prompt to say our Taxfiler expires at end of subscription which gives about a month to decide what to do. Reading through responses it seems Elements is not as good which is indeed a pity and I agree about all the difficulties with Iris price rises, invoicing and support. Why do good things never last!!
Any recommendations for account production and tax return alternatives gratefully received.
