According to the paper this morning HMRC dont have enough staff to cover for a 'no deal' Brexit so here's an idea... defer / cancel MTD and transfer staff.
Now.. how do I go about telling HMRC my brilliant idea? :)

Obviously brilliant ideas such as that, along with competence, good governance etc. are anathema to this Government, so you are wasting your breath there.
Mind you, the opposition is probably even worse, and is the main reason the public tolerate it at all I think.
Write to Grayling, the go to guy in HMG, it does not matter if it is not his department as he has brought his particular skillset to bear on lots of different government departments and is very consistent re what he brings to the job.
Your prompt action might even prevent him entering into a contract with an employment agency that has no staff on its books.

I thought he was the Fisheries bloke.
Nah ... you are probably thinking of Amber Rudd.

Does she do the traffic lights ?
Nah .... Green is in charge of the Traffic Lights and JC when it comes to the Red.
Sturgeon, however, is the one to watch out for. A big fish on the prowl.
Though maybe going to have some problems if the current goes against her / the SNP post the Salmon(d) issues.
There are 8.63 million people in the UK, aged between 16 and 64, who are "economically inactive".
Here's a thought - why not sign a few of them up to do jobs around HMRC ?
Perfect common sense, but I fear there is someone/a group of people in HMRC as stubborn as Theresa May and ploughing on with MTD for VAT no matter what. It's THEIR project and it will go through dammit is their modus operandi
We've now got to a stage where a lot of folk who have been bullied into changing their perfectly adequate systems at no small cost would get a bit upset if MTD was cancelled.
I thought re the former it was a prerequisite.
(Cannot make the same comment about the latter as my father was one of them )
I didn't know there were any HMRC staff working on MTD in the first place.
But I just spent half an hour looking for a client's VAT registration date for a new EU EORI number which he found out he didn't need after all.
I vote cancel Brexit.
It is not just HMRC my partner who works in the finance dept of what used to be the LSC, has been told if a no deal Brexit should occur to be prepared to move to any Government dept
