Appeals against late filing penalties - COVID19

Didn't find your answer?

Just received an EI £250 late filing penalty.  It was filed on 7th May so 2 days late ... has anyone successfully appealed any penalties using COVID19 related issues.

Were the issues relevant to the late filing or is it just an attempt to dodge the penalty ??

IMHO yes related as we were working all hours of the day trying to sort out furlough payments and grants so yes we forgot about it until it was too late. Also think £250 is a bit steep for this return - CIS is only a £100.

No idea what EI is but appeals against late filing of CIS claiming Covid have been successful.
Some of these got lost in the wages, furlough, staff gone, shielding looking after school kids problem

Employment Intermediary returns - quarterly so one to 05/04 was due 05/05. List gross payments to agency workers or subcontractors not through PAYE.

Do not have any of those
But I appealed all the late subcontract submissions that both we and our clients forgot using Covid as reason.
Every one accepted.

Nothing to lose by doing the same
