Applicability of AIA

Applicability of AIA

As per HMRC rules, AIA is applicable on office furniture purchase. Suppose i purchase one pub with its furniture. Whether furniture of Pub is treated as office furniture and can i claim AIA on that?

Many thanks in advance!

No, pub furniture is not office furniture. But why do you think you can only claim AIA on office furniture?

In HMRC web site its clearly mentioned that office furniture is allowed to claim AIA. And not specifically mentioned all types of furniture. So i am in dilemma whether i can claim AIA on pub furniture or not?

They're just examples.  The list can never be complete.

So - is this pub furniture moveable or is it a secret ?

AIA allowed on moveable equipment

You can claim AIA on furniture that is moveable, being in a pub, office, factory or hotel.

There no specific differentiation between the four examples that I state.

Maybe

you should buy office chairs and desks for the pub just to be on the safe side. You'd end up with a rabble of unruly accountants making it their den of choice and in my experience they're hard drinkers.
