Are grants from councils taxable income?

Didn't find your answer?

My client, LTD, received grant from council in April 2020 because shop has been closed due to Covid lockdown. Is this grant taxable, as other grants from HMRC?

+1.

Not even an attempt at what she thinks, even if its woefully wrong.

Mind you the only other Q asked had 18 responses and not a thank you in sight, so not sure why I am surprised at the lack of effort.

Of course it's 'yes'
An 'accountant' shouldn't need to ask such a dumb question

Thank you all for replying, specially memyself-eye. Checked myself with council, lost an hour. You must have lot of time to kill at this time of year.

There are numerous threads on here about the date that the grant is deemed to be income
If using 5 April or 31 March year end, you may get a shock
