Are HMRC systems (for EPAYE) fit for purpose?

Would HMRC be as tolerant if your (or your client's) systems were this unreliable?

Didn't find your answer?

According to the "EPAYE: service availability and issues" page at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/epaye-service-availability-an... ...

* We are aware that for a very small number of users the Employment Allowance status page is showing that you are not currently receiving Employment Allowance when you are;

* We are aware that for a very small number of users that have Repayment Interest Credits, these credits are not showing on your monthly statement;

* We are aware that for a very small number of users accrued interest may not be shown, or may show the incorrect amount on the account.

It's a bit of a coincidence that all are prefaced with the same "We are aware that for a very small number of users" phrase, but this 'small number' isn't quantified (small number of whole population or small number of those for whom the relevant facet is applicable)?

And can you imagine using similar types of bland statement as an 'excuse' for inaccuracies in any return to HMRC?

At the very least these notices should contain an indication as to from what date the specific problem may affect your records (without this it merely says that the data may or may not be wrong - which is hardly helpful)!
