Are we exempt from Australian GST as a UK Entity?

Invoice from an Australian Entity, do we need to pay the GST or they mark us as exempt?

Didn't find your answer?

G'day!

We recently received an invoice from an Australian entity (we are are a UK VAT registered limited company and do not have an Australian entity). The invoice includes a charge for GST. Can we ask for the GST to be removed, can this be reverse charged?

Thank you!

Richard

Suspect the answer is somewhere between “no” and “it depends”. Presumably you have asked the person who sent you the invoice and reviewed the agreement you entered into with them. What do you deduce from having done that?

Is there an Oz version of Aweb? If not there is a business opportunity for Sift.

Depends what the invoice is for, goods or services, if services, what type of service? If goods, did the goods leave Australia?

Surely it's easier to just call the supplier and ask? Might be a genuine mistake or correct.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. The invoice is for services, advertising.

Thanks
