ATED servics agent gov gateway login details lost!

and HMRC cannot help - tough!

Didn't find your answer?

We havent used our ATED agent services account for some time, but now that the client has authorised us to prepare and file the ATED return, the hmrc online services lines say they dont have the agent login details and their systems dont allow for the existing account to be deleted so that at least a new agent ated services account can be set up! trying to retireve those has taken a good part of the morning with no success. it seems that we are stuck and there is no way can provide this service to clients. as a last resort i am askin here if anyone has ever had the same problem or knows howw to egt round. many thanks.

Your gateway account should be the same one that you use for CT etc. you access it via a different URL though.

I don’t know why it should be different from the main login address but any agent dealing with ATED should know of the address to use - your gripe is unjustified in this case.

Try https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/ated/account-summary

And per above, login using your CT govt gateway and your client should be there.

I've had a similar problem with the change in ownership of a corporate client, whereby the client could not access their own Gateway. I ended up submitting a paper ATED form. You have to email HMRC to request it but they usually respond by email within a day or two.

Request for paper form here: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/a...
