ATT do you need to register to study with Tolley?

Didn't find your answer?

I am CIMA qualified and looking to apply for MIP. My tax knowledge is very limited so I am looking to study ATT but not sit the exams. I would like to complete the practice papers.

Can I study with Tolley for ATT without being a registered student with ATT?

If I am not planning to sit the exams do I still need the yellow and orange tax books? Tolley are offering the 17-18 books for £50 and £70 if purchased when purchasing the course. I am looking at the personal taxation distance learning study package.

Thanks

You do not need to be registered with ATT to study with any tuition provider. Also you do not need to purchase the legislation.

One of the key learning points is using the legislation.

I strongly advice you sit the relevant exam. Otherwise, you are unlikely to cover the material in depth. I speak from experience.

I agree with everything First Tab's said. That's a 10 star piece of advice.

Thanks for the replies.
I have missed the cut off for joining ATT for the November exams. I had to be signed up by end of June.
I will buy the yellow books for now as I am looking at studying the personal tax paper.
Have you used Tolley distance learning? I thought I’d get that over the online version as then I can get printed copies of the study info.

I did all my ATT exams via BPP distance learning. They were excellent. Nowadays I believe it's only Tolley that does online ones. I paid for the VAT paper (but didn't take the exam) a year or so ago from Tolley and they are also very good.
