Automatic tax codes on Quickbooks Payroll

Do I need to contact HMRC ?

Didn't find your answer?

When using Quickbooks Payroll we were getting automatic tax codes update

Though now we are getting errors and tax codes are not updating

I have called Quickbooks twice and received mixed messages.   Unfortunately, the support services of Quickbooks used to be very good but its gone downhill

They are now saying we need to contact HMRC so they can enable the automatic tax codes.  Is this correct as I am not convinced

It might not be a Quickbooks error. May just be a coincidence but I have noticed that we now have to sometimes try 3/4 times to get codes on BrightPay. It implies that there is an unknown error but a couple of minutes later it updates.

Yes, we've been having the same issue with Payroll Manager.

3 different bits of kit implies it probably is a Revenue issue.

I assume what Quickbooks told me that I need to contact HMRC to enable tax code update is incorrect ?

How do you update tax codes automatically in PM? I can't see that it's possible from their help page on tax codes.

It's a known issue with retrieving notices from HMRC. See the message here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pay-as-you-earn-paye-service-.... Nothing to do with the payroll software.

I may have misunderstood!

We definitely download codes via PM and we've definitely been having issues with that for the past couple of weeks but it depends on whether that is considered to be automatic. In my mind it is but I suppose, technically, it isn't if by contrast QBO has the facility to do that without user intervention (if that's what the OP means).
