Benefit in kind on electric unicycle?

Benefit in kind on electric unicycle?

Didn't find your answer?

One of my clients has just asked me what the benefit in kind position would be on an electric unicycle - http://inventist.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=b... . Has anyone got any ideas as I`m not sure where to start with this one?!

Brilliant

Don't care about the tax.  Just tell me when people start riding these on the pavement, and I'll make sure I am somewhere else!

Definitions, definitions, definitions

The so-called "cycle to work scheme" relies on the exemption in ITEPA 2003, section 244.

See: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/1/section/244?view=plain

Section 244 refers to the definition of cycle in RTA 1988, section 192(1).

See: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/192?view=plain

If you look, you will see that a unicycle is not a "cycle" for the purposes of the exemption, so it will not work under the cycle to work scheme.

love it

But on consuting the website it seems to be retailing at $1,790.

Perhaps better and less lazy to stick with a bike.  Or a dalek.

'Fall back'...

...seems like an appropriate phrase for this invention.

Puts me in mind that the chap who owned the Segway company, Jimmy Heselden, sadly perished by driving one of his company's products over a cliff.  I don't know if he had to pay tax on the 'benefit' of using it for this purpose.

They appear to be very much like a segway so I wonder if they'll be banned from road/public use in the UK just like segways??

Balanced view

More complicated than you might think. Clearly a need to be very balanced in any advice offered!
