Hi,
I am looking at becoming a freelance bookkeeper with the potential to offer payroll services.
I am currently Cipp qualified and work as a payroll SME of which I have done for many years.
I would now like to expand my horizons but not sure the best way to proceed.
From research it appears it appear ICB would suit better as it is more geared for your own business but AAT offer addition security within employment plus further career progression.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

I believe AAT is also geared around your own business too. Plus you become a bookkeeper/accountant at the end of it (albeit not chartered) rather than a just bookkeeper.
Ultimately, it just depends on how much you want to learn but I think you will regret doing ICB in the long term (because you will probably learn much more and become more rounded and knowledgeable with AAT).
