Brightpay set up taking over from payroll bureau

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

I am new to payroll and we are going to be taking the payroll in house from the payroll bureau who have been processing it for us. We have decided to go with Brightpay. The Bureau have exported the data to date and i have loaded this in to Bright pay hopefully i have done it correct. I am mirroring what the Bureau has done for the last 2 weeks, but first of all i dont want to process it and then send it to HMRC how do i do this? Secondly how do i go about getting an employer id address from hmrc? Thirdly one of the employees received a tax rebate but i didnt get this information because i am not linked to HMRC as yet. Finally my NI figures differed in pence to the Bureau and so will this make a difference when i take over fully from the bureau?

Thanks for anyones help.

Natalie

Can the Bureau provide you with a backup/snapshot of the data instead? That way you can guarantee that the records are setup in the same way as previously.
You will need to ensure that you are registered for online PAYE services as an employer - HMRC will provide you with your login details.

It's possible to mark an RTI return as already sent in BrightPay. Go to RTI section, select a return, click send, click option 'Mark as sent and accepted by HMRC'.
Best of luck!

Maybe you need to discuss the situation with your director. Running a payroll these days is not straightforward, and with no experience you really need some training and/or an experienced mentor to help you out.
