Always good for chuckle, we sent in a 64-8 for a client, 64-8 has been rejected as it didn't include the NI No.
They have sent back 64-8, which quite clearly does state NI No, in correct place, and have quoted his NI No in the reference on the letter!
Made me smile anyway.....
Does anyone still have their number, i'd like to try and nip it in the bud now but suspect that maybe they don't have phones now with the cutbacks?
Thanks in advance

I found a number on HMRC website that said was the CAAT helpline. When I rang it I had to explain why I had rung them, they didn't have a clue they were supposed to be the CAAT helpline..... good luck!
Why not request online if you have all the correct details. Hard bit is getting the code off your client, but I only have the occasional problem.
Maybe they meant there was no UTR on the 64-8 rather than no NI Number? Fairly sure they wont accept without - did you put a cover letter in explaining (LOL just as if they would read it)
Would think he needs to register for self assessment first of all - if he really should be in self assessment system?
I can better that! I had a partnership 64-8 sent back once because it didn't have a NI number on it. First I knew partnerships were supposed to have NI numbers!
I did enjoy writing the letter that went back with that one. The sarcasm was probably wasted but I felt much better.
