I'm wondering with MTD, as an agent can I still send in my clients' receipts/expenses quarterly on their behalf. All the information I've seen on MTD is pointed towards the self-employed person themselves sending their receipts directly to HMRC themselves. A high number of my clients are not computer literate and are worried. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Can Agents send clients' records to HMRC for MTD
How can an agent send records on behalf of their clients?

Yes you will still be able to file on their behalf. However how you will file remains a mystery but likely to be via software and your gateway credentials.
I'm not the only one that is wondering how this will be done, then? I want to assure my clients that I will be able to continue to support them in the way they are used to. I currently use the free software provided by Capium - I'm hoping this is going to be available to use with MTD. I've heard that spreadsheets can be used, but again no information on how this is going to work. I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction should you hear of any news. Thanks for your response anyway.
Why are you even worrying about it. The whole process as it's been mapped out (up to now) is ill conceived, unworkable, and unenforceable.
In it's current form, it will never see the light of day.
Late to the discussion, but Mr IRIS came in to day to see me and told me that agents would need to register differently as their existing Gateway credentials wouldn't work with MTD.
Can't see any reference to this anywhere but anyone else know if this is true?
