Cancelling or change the date of submitted payment

I need to cancel a submited payment or change the date of  the payment. Can this be done within Basic PAYE Tools?. Any help would be welcome.

Not really a wise move to amend payroll dates mid year.

What is the reason?

I had a computer crash earlier in the year which left me with missing submitted data. I need to enter the missing payroll entries again but because I have entries after the missing data dates, the system will not let me make the entries before the last payment date submitted.
If I could find a way within the system of deleting the date of the submitted entry after the crash, I would be in a position to enter the missing payroll entries before the crash.

Presumably you took a back up which you can now restore? Key missing entries (do not submit, because you have already) and carry on from there?

Better still, get some decent software. Moneysoft is cheap as chips and its so easy to rectify fudge ups.

Do you mean you've already submitted the FPS but with an error that now needs to be corrected (and if so how would cancelling the FPS help)?
Or that you wish to change 'payment date' value for one or more as-yet-unsubmitted FPS files in the future?

A lot more clarity just *might* lead to a useful response here.

If I could change the date of a submission made after the crash, the system I think, would allow me to enter the missing data before the crash.
At the moment the system will not allow me to make entries before the last entry I have made.

Ah, so the "Cancelling or changing the date" refers to data supposed to be held in your payroll (that has already been correctly submitted to HMRC and so doesn't need changing there)!

In which case I concur with every point made above by Leywood.

Like others here I wouldn't use BPT even in desperation - so can't advise on whether or not there is a solution to your (perfectly reasonable) requirement within that software.
It's certainly not difficult to solve in any commercial software I've encountered ... else how would you accommodate an in-year take-on from different software?
On that note, will BPT not allow you to enter (by over-writing where necessary) all YTD values so that your 'new' pay period values end up with the required YTDs to drive the calcs and reporting?
