Can I export from Sage into QBooks?

Can I export from Sage into QBooks?

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking to move from Sage to Quick Books and am hoping that their is a program that can take my Sage backup or data file and turn it into a QB data file. Is this a pie in the sky dream or does anyone know how to do this? I am aware of the QB data import routine using an .iif file but building up an import file seems like an awful lot of work when I want to import a whole data file.

Its the major failing of QuickBooks
The (almost) impossibility of importing data into QuickBooks is the reason I have stopped using it and encouraged clients to stop as well. Importing from QuickBooks to Sage is no problem but it not really possible to do the other way.

If all that QB can say is that one should rekey the data then they do not deserve our business.

Last year I had a client whose computer had become very corrupted. The trial balance in QB did not even balance! The computer and QB crashed. I was able to take backups of the data in excel formats. The new computer and new version of QB could not restore any backup of the old (corrupted) data and there was far too much to rekey. Using csv formats we were able to fully install the data into Sage (and even correct the trial balance not balancing).

try saving as a csv
Johnathon

I don't know much about quickbooks but i know that you can export sage information into excel as a csv and re-import into another sage program. I had a invoicing system which was Sage with an additional front end therefore stand alone and not linked to the nomianl or purchase ledger and i use to export from one sage and import to the other. Check to see if your software allows you to import from a csv.

Good luck

Since no one else is answering...
I don't know about the import routine in QB, but presumeably you have a definition of the .iif file you refer to. If so, then I guess what you need to do is create a file that contains the Sage data in this format.

In the absence of any dedicated approach, you can use ODBC drives to interrogate Sage with something like Excel or MS Access (I would use Access). Once you have the data in Access, you can write a query to reorganise and reformat the data to match your .iif definition. You may be in for a little trial and error but it should still be easier than rekeying the data.

I would have thought, however, that this must have been done before, and that an easy way exists.
