Can I use someone elses credentials?

Is a software available where I can file an SA tax return using the software's agent gateway?

Didn't find your answer?

For example - You can use Kashflows own RTI filing credentials to file your payroll.

I have some friends that file for family members to aid them. Some people (since HMRC have added to 2 step secuity - Passpord, P60, Payslip or credit questions) are having issues signing up for a gateway account and online filing.

Are any softwares available where you can fill in a tax return but file it through (the softwares for example) agent gateway? This could save people the time and stress of creating a gateway.

I have since hepled them and filed through my gateway for free - but food for thought for any friends and family who are having this issue?

Any recommendations and throughts are duely welcome.

eh? All agents should be filing through agent software with agent ID's

There is no such concept as "filing for friends and family". Either they are client or they do it themselves.

Are Regal Tax Advisors actually competent to act? or are 'Regal Tax Advisors; a bookkeeper doing this tax return lark out of their flat without a first clue what they are doing and passing themselves off as a tax professional? Just wild guess.

HMRC has the concept of Trusted Helper to help friends and family. It is not the same as being an agent.

Please substantiate the claim that you offer the best and most reliable service, or you may find yourself referred to the ASA or your professional body if you happen to be a member of one

Well it's easy to give a cheap service if you don't comply with many of regulations that the rest of us do. e.g. where is all the necesseary disclosure that should be within that web site?

Mobile contact number, and operating since 2016. I suspect that it is more of an "I" organisation than a "We".

My previous employer would file returns and add my name at the end, I only found out because he asked me to amend a figure. When I asked why my name was on the return,he said he didn't add it but because it automatically populates if you happen to type the first letter of your name, he must have done it by accident. Then one day I heard my boss on the phone whilst I was in the kitchen and he said -
'if they do investigate, I'll just say it was the trainee who submitted the return so although you'll have to pay the tax, the penalties will be less as it wasn't deliberate'

I never knew who my boss was speaking to and I didn't want to let him know I heard but it made sense as to why he used to ask me to email clients with their return attached, instead of him just emailing them with it - it was to make it look like I'd done the return and the email was supporting their appeal for reduced penalty in future as I was a learner so not deliberate.

I cannot remember the clients' name but it confirmed my suspicion that I taken on to blame. It was also a shock to me because the clients we're in on it too.

I walked out of this job and I believe much worse has been done that I'm not even aware of.

So, be very careful about letting someone use your gateway, let them have the hassle of doing it themself otherwise you may be the 'lamb' they need when they blame you. Or, take them on as a client and do it properly and make them sign / email their approval.

I'm afraid this question is wrong on so many levels. I would also urge you to read the "HMRC standard for agents" to ensure you know your responsibilities!

What you are basically suggesting is that a software provider will facilitate the submission of a tax return (Personal Tax, Corporation Tax etc.), under their own credentials, without carrying out any checks on the taxpayer, without any formal engagement and will bear the brunt of inaccurate submissions (from client and taxpayer)???

Not only would this contravene the standard, it would also be subject to abuse! The less honest in society may be able to submit a false return for anybody they know the UTR and NINO for (e.g. a former employee or estranged partner), knowing the submission would not be traced back to them, and could lead to untold issues for the taxpayer (and the "so called" agent).

As for payroll software (and Co Sec software for that matter) allowing submissions through their agent (or presenter) IDs. I am aware these exist but would not expect ANY self respecting agent (or presenter) to use such a process!

Finally, if a taxpayer is unable to sign up for HMRC Online due to being unable to provide passport, driving licence, credit certification etc. (which is incidentally NOT the same as, nor anything to do with 2-factor authentication), the TAXPAYER should contact HMRC to be approved elsehow. This is only likely to affect a SMALL minority of taxpayers!!!
