Can one avoid paying VAT?

I’ve been informed that some couples manage to avoid paying VAT when paying for wedding venues

Didn't find your answer?

if i have a private company in my name and choose to pay for my wedding venue through my company instead of as an individual am I still subject to the same VAT laws? If so, is there any other way of getting around VAT?

The done thing is to offer cash. They won't charge VAT but you won't get an invoice.

Don't forget to "claim it" (the wedding cost of course) against the profits of your business aswell!

How much will it cost ?

Will it qualify as a "trivial benefit"?

The legal provisions found in VATA s24 prohibit this.

An expense which is not for business purposes cannot have its VAT claimed. Therefore, you are going to have to pay the VAT whatever. If anyone else is doing this to claim the VAT then they are breaking the law.
