Can someone help me understand this?

An enquiry made by a prospect

Didn't find your answer?

Hi All,

A client who has a limited company by guarantee has asked if we could:

Assist with setting up a Bank Account for non-profit organisation with countersigners for cheques.

Is this something that someone here offer to his/her clients?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

You're right but this enquiry made me think for a moment if we are missing out on something here i.e other firms or freelance accountants might be offering to their clients?

There might be some accountants that do this. But in the main, most are intelligent enough to decline the offer.

The only bank work I do is more introducing clients to bankers, and to tell the truth there is a lot less of that these days and most of the bankers in my little black book (or actually large grey ring binder) have moved on to pastures new anyway.

Surely this task is mere form filling , so paying you to get the information from them to complete the account application forms and hold their hand whilst they deal with ML checks etc with a bank seems pointless.

I disagree, but then I would.
We have several small local charities as clients. No profit in them but they are a great source of leads as businessmen tend to end up on their board.

those charities all need bank accounts, but the bank account opening forms for charities and community associations are long winded, and then also need a copy of the minutes, and a copy of the constitution.

We down load constitution from Charities website, download form from bank website, fill it out (takes 15 mins for our cashier type lady) and charge them a suitable time based fee. the charity is happy, the bank account details then get recorded on our system so the year end accounts have a prompt to get the amount, we make a small profit and everyone is happy. especially the regional bank manager when we tell me we sent an extra 5 clients his way this year in addition to the normal though put.

Bad new Barclays are shutting down the local bank and theirs was the easiest form to complete so down to Nationwide now in town
