Canadian RRSP Lump Sum Withdrawal

This has been asked previously, sorry in advance

Didn't find your answer?

I hope  someone can assist me please. In unravelling HMRC DT4605, do I correctly understand that 25% tax will be withheld by the Canadian tax authority on the Lump Sum withdrawal- no uk FTC relief on this

The Lump Sum itself will not be taxed in UK

BUT - if there is a disposal of assets ( e.g shares or land I suppose) held in the Plan - this will be taxed in the UK and the FTC relief available- I don't have any information about this part from the (UK resident) client yet

Thanks so much for looking
