Can’t find where to view client’s PAYE payments?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi, can anybody guide me to where I can view a client's PAYE account & payments made on HMRC? Haven't had to do so for a couple of years and now I can't remember where to find it. We have authorisation to act as their agent so have access but just can't find this section. Thanks, Lauren

I am about 95% sure the section to which you refer doesn't exist, but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong!

OP, log in to your Agent services dashboard, NOT your agent services account.
Click on PAYE.
Click on the client name.

Options there are:-
PAYE records
Annual statements
Payment history
Upcoming payments
Overdue payments
Employment Allowance status
Coronavirus (COVID-19) business support

+ about a dozen others depending on where you click.

Though, of course, the payment history and allocations rarely make any sense.

Thanks - silly question but what is the difference between an Agent Service Dashboard and an Agent Service Account and how do I find the dashboard?

I absolutely do not have this! How do I get it?

I'm logging in to the usual (original) agent account, going to the PAYE for Agents service and clicking on a client. I have these items I can look through, but none of the things you list:

Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme
Appeal a penalty
Real Time Information (RTI) notices
Tax code notices
Student loan notices
Employer notices
Generic notifications
Notice options
Generic Notice options
File a return
Maintain client
Remove client
About your client
Employment Intermediaries report

Are we signed up for the wrong service? Is there another thing I can log in to?

It's ridiculous but it depends on the route you take to get to the account.

Go here:-
https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/login
which should redirect to here:-
https://www.access.service.gov.uk/login/signin/creds
then sign in on that screen.

wood2207, same for you.

I presume I would be using the same credentials as my agent services account to log in to that?

You presume wrong, use your 'old type' log in.

I thought as much :/

I do not have the same access as you then, I have no idea why! On a chat with HMRC tech support in another window, I'll see what they say about it all.

"The link to view liabilities and payments for their clients is only available to Agents through the beta Agent Services.

Access to this beta service is by invite only and is limited at the moment.
Agents get the invite on a 'first come first served' basis and is limited to a small number per day, so the earlier they log in the more chance they have of receiving the invite.

It is also limited to agents who have less than 200 clients across all services so this agent code would possibly not qualify as yet.

The service is still in beta so all this may change in the future but no information on this yet."

We have about 400 clients on ours so if the above is correct I'll just have to wait I suppose. At least I know I'm not doing it wrong I guess.

If anyone else knows better and this HMRC guy is just wrong, do let me know!

Never got an invite and got way more than 200 clients. Fortunately for some historical faff HMRC gave us a different PAYE User ID compared to that for SA/CT/VAT so looks like we've been lucky!
Having said that after a bit of clicking around SOMETIMES I only get the options that you describe. I then need to log out and log back in again using the route I've said.
Also not sure of all this beta service stuff. Been getting it for years.
We've seen before that you can sometimes get into HMRC hidden sections by a 'back door' Log into your account select one of you clients then put
/business-account/epaye/statements/2021-22 after .gov.uk giving you
https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/business-account/epaye/statements/2021-22
That may well get you in!

That gets me to a never before seen page that again gives the 200 client limit!

Quote:

Sorry, you’re not eligible to join the new tax agents service.
This may be because:

your firm has more than 200 clients in PAYE, Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, or VAT
you’re not enrolled for PAYE for Agents
you’re enrolled for PAYE for Agents, but you have no clients
We’ll be providing services suitable for agents with more than 200 clients in the future.

You can still use your usual HMRC online services.

This stuff is all so unbelievably janky. I've always used the login route you mentioned, which is why I thought I perhaps needed to get the service added to the ASA credentials then log in to the old portal with them, not sure why my brain went there but I'm buggered if I can figure out why it's a different system for everyone when we should ostensibly all have the same access.

Thank you everyone, it doesn’t seem like I can access it either, how do you get invited? Is there somewhere I login and see if there is an invite?

Agree there. This BETA thing has been in operation for many years now. I was right at the beginning and can access all. My colleague opearting under different log in credentials has not got the full access. Is it still going that people can register? She is constantly logging in for one reason or other and has never received an invite. It is another case of stupidity. Surely all agents with full access shoud be able to see the same things.

HMRC said so but it's up to you whether you believe that!

I don't think you can anymore.
We have been moving our payroll clients to the different company (around 2 years ago) and there was no option to see payments and allocations once we moved them. Some older clients who we didn't move still has this option.

We cannot get in either
Flakey system as Sab got an unseen page on one attempt but could not get that back again

Earlier threads had said about a client limit but did not specify number, at least we know now it is 200. Sort of.

Never worried about it before but had an awkward ex wages client complain that accounting to HMRC on line he owes over £3000
Could not even be bothered to say how much the figure really was
We know all reconciled to 5 April 2020.

But somehow it just must be our fault!

I'm having the same problem. I've never really needed to access this until now. I have a client who had a credit with PAYE, which crossed a tax year and is now a debt to HMRC. I just want to see what the accurate figure is and check he's not missed any payments, but no.

I spoke to HMRC helpdesk and they said that if I didn't sign up for the BETA trial, then I just can't view the info. I asked if I could join it now and they said no.

So that's it! If I want that information, I have to spend an age on hold on the phone, or waiting for someone to be available on the webchat. Do I pass on this cost to the client? Because it's definitely going to drastically increase the time it takes to get the information they want!
