Capital Allowances and IP

Capital Allowances or not

Didn't find your answer?

Hello all

Struggling with this one:

Media company bought a huge collection of interviews currently stored on CDs from a retired journo. Total paid was in the region of £70K. How would you account for these? Intangible assets with capital allowances? Will appreciate a link to a source? Gone through https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/2/contents but this transaction didn't qualify as Know How, patent or R&D. I know I'm missing something.

HMRC manuals would be the best place to start for the tax treatment.

Thank you for this. Still problematic but it's the closest to an appropriate treatment.
