Capital Allowances "Specialists"

HJR Tax - Any experience of this firm?

Didn't find your answer?

We've had several clients recently approached by this firm with phone calls, emails and "glossy brochures" and I wondered if anyone has experience of using them and, if so, what their opinion is of their service, charges and results.

Hopefully their services are better than their company accounts.

These 'specialists' are usually a bunch of charlatans that flit from one specialism to another.

Three of the directors have "sales" in their titles but only one has "tax". Probably tells you what you need to know.

The profile of one of them says "After over a decade in financial services as an IFA and mortgage consultant, [name] left behind a successful business he built with his partners .... [name] has unrivalled experience, knowledge and contacts in the financial services industry enabling him to make the transition into capital allowances seamless". I'm struggling to see the connection myself!

In fairness, their website shows 3 out of 4 senior people do have extensive (?) experience in the field and that they have had a fair amount of success. Whether they are as good as, better or worse than any other such firm is anyone's guess.

Not the same company, but one of our clients fell for a similar company's spiel and they promised him a £20K refund.

They never bothered checking how much tax he'd actually paid, which was around 5% of that.
