Employed.

If it doesn't give the government the information they want, it's just bad luck.

If you were in the pub what would you say?
Tax and employment law aside, if I, the single shareholder, employ myself, I am self employed in every day parlance.

I would plump for employed.

Of course the simple approach is to answer Jedi to every question, it has the bonus that in a hundred years time or more you are really going to annoy your descendants when they are doing a bit of genealogical research.

Maybe it is the modern equivalent to all my Wiltshire ancestors giving their occupations as agricultural labourer, or the slight exaggerations employed with my great grandfather described as a restaurateur despite the fact that in reality he actually had a horse drawn cart and delivered baked rolls/bread etc, my grandfather being his assistant until he sloped away underage to join the army.

Isn't it strange how we all object to different aspects of the intrusive set of questions.

Personally I have no problems with being asked about things like my sexual orientation (although no-one will ever know if my answers were honest) ... but my ire progressed on encountering all the intrusive questions about health - and overflowed in the Main Job sections.

Q: Briefly describe what you do (did) in your main job?
A: None of your business. I formed a company, employ people and operate in full compliance of the law. Now go and ask someone else your fatuous questions.

I viewed it as a free marketing opportunity. In 100 years when my answer is revealed it may trigger some enquiries from potential clients!

Hey, that's more than 100 characters! Go to Jail! Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Pay £200!

I was perplexed that after you've ticked to say you work from home - (did anyone actually tick from a workplace? During lockdown - surely not) - then the subsequent question wanted to know how you travel to work (answer: slide down the banister!)
