Hi,
We are changing our agent address and agent name with HMRC. Corporation tax was done online, no issues. Self assessment require a letter to confirm the changes......fingers crossed. PAYE did the changes over the phone.....all good.
VAT.........
The helpine said we need to set up a new agent online, get new agent reference, cancel old agent reference and get new authorisations from all clients.
Are they for real? Is is really that difficult?
All answers greatly appreciated!

In my experience:
1) For VAT it really is that difficult!
2) For SA everything changed correctly after HMRC got my letter.
Good luck.
I moved 3 years ago, but with same agent name, and we kept the same reference,
Perhaps do it in two stages? one for address, and second for name?
I moved in December, and yes, VAT really is that difficult.
HMRC have a proven track record of taking something easy, and turning it into something incredibly hard.
Moved three years ago and did not change address for VAT agent purposes as too ridiculous for words. Same name and email so just left old address. No problems so far! Only have a couple of VAT registered clients.
All other HMRC records updated OK and nobody seems to have noticed the inconsistencies. Joined up thinking? Certainly not!
Just waiting for some reason to pop up whereby HMRC VAT department need to write to me, looking forward to the battle.
HMRC VAT still have my office address from 4 yrs and 3 moves ago. Too much hassle to keep changing it - it tried twice, they ignored me/screwed it up, so I thought [***] it.
I had no problems with VAT but agent address on even our new clients’ PAYE records still shows original agent name and address from 2010.
Good luck!
Can we automate this process?
There are some companies who are claiming that they have automate the HMRC process, is it safe to do business with them?
Like formationshouse. Com or www.companiesservices.com are they really do it for us?
