Changing from weekly pay to monthly pay - Moneysof

How to do it?

Client has decided to pay monthly from now on instead of weekly.  Looking at Moneysoft I can't see how you actually do this, and looking at an old thread from 2013 it would appear the employees may have to leave and re-join on the software.  Is that still the case or is their a way I can transfer to monthly pay?

I've recently had this and yes, leaving and rejoining was the only way I could get it to work. Others might have some special tricks but I couldn't find it

Hope they have considered the employees and their cashflows, when we did this I advanced the monthly payroll to mid month from near end of month so those who had been paid weekly did not have a very long four weeks until their next pay date.

Yes, employees were consulted and were paid weekly for the first two weeks of January and will be paid again at the end of January. Change agreed with employees and CofE updated. Only two employees so not a major cost to the employer.

I did it by
Changing the payment section of the employees details to monthly from weekly
Changing the employee's pay sheet in "pay details " to the correct monthly figure and copied it down
It worked for me

Is there a pension scheme? I had to set up a new pension scheme for an employer who changed, maybe it depends on the provider though.

Both employees have opted out so thankfully not a consideration.

Very generous of them to take the 2% pay cut - 3% from April.

Sorry !!
Thinking back I did it at the start of a PAYE year. The answer in the MS help section is as follows:-

Changing an employee’s Pay Frequency

You cannot change an employee's pay frequency mid-way through the PAYE year. If an employee starts the PAYE year (or his employment) being paid weekly, he has to stay being paid weekly for the whole of the rest of the PAYE year. If you are going to change pay frequency, therefore, it is most convenient to do so at the start of the PAYE year (6 April). If you have just created a file for the new year, make sure that the employee has no pay entered yet, then go to the Employee Details screen, click on the Payment tab and you should then be able to change the pay frequency.
If you really have to change the pay frequency of an employee mid-way through the year, proceed as follows:
On the Employee Details - Work screen, set today as the Date Left.
Go to Forms - Employee Leaving - P45-1 and print the form
Create a new employee with the same name and details as the original employee, set the Starting Date to today, and enter the P45(New Employee) details from the P45-1 you have printed.
When you have done this for each employee affected, click on the Sort button on the Employee Details screen, and select sort LEAVERS to end of list so that all the replaced duplicate employees are at the end of the list.
Enter the pay details for the newly created employees.

Did one of these a couple of years ago and as I recall I had to do dummy P45s from the weekly payroll and set the employees up again under monthly pay. I seem to recall that Moneysoft at the time gave that advice.
