Circumstances as a result of coronavirus?

Looking to furlough staff over winter

Didn't find your answer?

Having read one of the comments on this thread (https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/cjrs-01112020-on-heres-the-a...), I got thinking about what constitutes circumstances arising as a result of coronavirus.

As a seasonal business, we close to visitors for the winter but this year are also looking to cut back winter works and flexi-furlough staff due to having not been able to generate the revenue during the summer which would normally cover the costs of the winter period. I presume this qualifies as being "as a result of coronavirus... ", but wonder what others think?

We'll also be taking far fewer advance bookings for 2021 than we normally do due to everything having been rolled forward from 2020, so less admin work too.

Interesting submission to parliament by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association here: https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/7540/pdf/ discussing the effect of covid on seasonal businesses.

I hate the vagueness of it all. I guess 2020 turnover below 10% of 2019 and subsequent massive losses should make it a no brainer?
